 Firebug Flare Gun

I've started a flare pistol model intended to become the Firebug's tier 1 weapon. It will cost somewhere between £300 and £500, will hold 1 flare at a time, will have a reserve of around 15 flares and will take up 4 weight blocks. It should have a pretty big range, but will require some skill at long range due to the arc, it will do menial damage but will set light to the specimen it comes into contact with, the afterburn will be slightly longer and more damaging than the flamthrower's.

I like the idea. Ever played Time Splitters Future Perfect? That's the thought I had for something useful for a Flaregun to do.
My only suggestion would be the range: I'm not really sure how long is a Lvl. 6 Flamethtrower's range, but I would preffer this beauty to have a really long range. The deal would be that after a few meters, the flare starts flying and moving in circles, making it really hard to hit any far away target.

Hmm.... I'm not really sure how effective a flare gun would be in KF.. Your idea sounds reasonable I guess, I was just hoping for this thing to pop clots like balloons lol

Also, I forget how many weight blocks the flamethrower takes up but I know it's a lot.. Will you be able to coincide the flare gun with the flame thrower?

Actually, they shouldn't REALLY need to be on your arsenal at the same time.
I thought of this like, an alternative for the Firebug before spending lots of cash on it's flamethrower, specially for those Firebugs under Lvl 3... which there are still plenty...

Still, knowing that you may carry both, makes it even better for any hardcore Pyro... err, Firebug, I mean...

Gibby approves. Very Happy Does this weapon have a blast radius, or is it treated like a single bullet that sets things on fire?

The only thing I'm not really in love right now is the model. You based your model on a Polish M. 78, right?
You could try going for something more modern, or with a more attractive look.
There are lots of Flare Guns models out there, which I'm sure would look way better in-game.

Read other notes before you suggest changing things. Mamoo has other things to do than make models, so he's not gonna want to redo everything. The model you proposed is far too alike to the M79 for demoman. Adding weapons that look alike to others ruins the feel of variety. You're basically suggesting a firebug grenade gun which is already WIP by me. Wink

Jeez, I actually FORGOT about the M79 =P
Must be one of my least used weapons... Pipe Bombs FTW. And I always play Medic, so...

Yeah, well, I guess that's up to Mamoo then.

On the Bright Side, though: you wouldn't need to make a new realoading animation for the FG then pirat

Lol, I have no idea what I modelled it after, found an image of a flare gun on Google and decided to use it as a basic guide. I'm fairly keen to keep it as a flare pistol, seeing as it will be only 4 blocks, which is currently the 'sidearm wight' (dual 9mms, handcannon, m79)

Uhh, beta testing will be a while away yet, I still need someone who can animate this if you're able to.

Anywho, I've added the hammer and trigger, which means the model is FINISHED!!!

I got some assistance from No Glory, managed to get the KF hands into Blender after a long and horrific process involving lots on programs, if anyone wants Blender compatible KF hands, hit me up and I'll upload them.
