Hi there, lol, just wanted to let you all know for how long i have been expecting to see a team like this, it was about time, most simply dislike the idea of adding custom content to the game, mainly weapons, while others bitch about how it will ruin the game and destroy the planet at the same time.


IMHO, First step you guys should take is to make a full tutorial, this way will avoid a billion questions about every single detail in making custom weapons, i totally support this idea, if it depended on me, KF would have at least 300 different weapons, i would add a couple new ones every week or so rofl, by the way im not a kid, im 23 years old and ive been a weapon enthusiast since.. ever, thanks to my dad which is one too, and i do have a fair amount of knowledge about that, and 3D modelling.

But in my personal view, if i had the skills, i would make a realism-mod, at first because its much simpler to modify only the weapon status, than it is to add whole new weapons with new 3d models and animations and texture etc, the game right now is extremely unrealistic and imho unfair (perk balance), and then after all is correct i would start adding new guns.

By simply doing this: re-configuring the weapon stats to the closest to real life as possible (large ballistc data and of the guns itself, available on web) and balancing them only by its price, and the Perks should only affect the human characteristics, that means, it does not affect the amount of Power, Range, Recoil, Accuracy or wathever of any weapon, but only the skills of the soldier to deal with such, and by a small margin mostly (like about 20%), for example, a soldier that is used to weapon X (perk and weapon combination) will Reload a little faster, be more capable to deal with the recoil Stability by recovering faster after each shot, the (not recoil itselfl, ever used a full auto Scar? see how it jumps frenetically from one side to another? thats it.

The best of this is that would make all weapons actually usefull to all perks, of course there would still be advantages to the correct perk, imagine everybody died and you are running out of ammo, you are Support specialist or any other perk that is not for this specific weapon, what do you do, you pick that lets say Scar of your dead friend on the ground, but then you find out it shoots beans instead of lead now just because you are not with same perk, that is lame, its ridiculous, real soldiers are trained to deal with any crew weapon and even the enemies weapons as well.

Sorry, but I oppose the idea of this "realism" mod. Arma 2 modders, we are not. The perks are made for a reason: to make people use different weapons and work together as a team covering different roles with their perks. It's very rare that a high-level support spec will ever pick up a SCAR from a dead teammate and be proficient in using it, because the perk is meant for the use of shotguns. I can see what you mean by wanting to make players more equal to each other when it comes to skill with weapons. But we may as well remove perks altogether, just like the old version of KF for UT2k4.

If I were you, I wouldn't worry about perk balance. We're currently creating a new weapon for the firebug, and TWI have promised another balance patch (They havent abandoned KF at all! They're still a bit busy with RO:HOS and most of the team just got back from holiday.) They're gonna buff the chainsaw and nerf the M14 and I imagine they will do something about the one-hit-kills against fleshpunds with the crossbows. We REFUSE to touch any of TWI's work (We're probably not allowed, anyway confused .) This isn't a total conversion mod. Just a pack of addons to give us a little more variety in the weapons we use.

He's the assault rifle guy. That's what his perk is for. He's used to assault rifles. Suspect And no, we won't be able to make any new perks at present, or not at all. Here's a tip for ya when you play KF: Use weapons only if they match your perk, or, play a different perk that uses that weapon. I can't stress that enough when playing with other people who don't follow that rule. Don't take this the wrong way but if you don't like the gameplay in KF for reasons like this, I suggest you play another game that you would like instead.

300 weapons, lawl, you've gotta be kidding me. We would like to add a lot of weapons but not 300! If you have any ideas for weapons, post them in the Idea section. DO NOT suggest anything noticeably overpowered. DO NOT suggest futuristic or fictional weapons from exsiting games and movies. Don't expect "The BFG from Doom" or a lightning gun. And no extra explosives, no heavy machine guns, no tanks, no new specimens. These have been discussed, and a new specimen will be extremely hard to make and will be part of a serious balance debate. We really do care for the balance in this game. Remember, we're not adding extra weapon tiers, but rather, creating weapons for exsisting tiers. For example, we would create a bolt-action rifle for the sharpshooter perk, which is just a little bit more powerful than the lever-action but with a slower fire rate.

You may use the ideas section to suggest stuff we could make, but PLEASE consider the effort required to make these things. Don't you dare go posting pictures of weapons and describing what they look like. Consider:

[list][*] Damage margins (E.g. "This weapon will be giving damage inbetween the Bullpup and the AK-47...")
[*] Assigned perks
[*] WHY this weapon will really be useful
[*] The real-world aspects of this weapon. E.g. we won't include a japanese machinpistol just because you like the look of it.
[*] The fiction of Killing Floor. E.g. Horzine haven't made weapons that fire green plasma balls at specimens. The survivors of KF use real weapons in realistic action under realistic conditions (WW2 weapons, AK and SCAR have been discussed, and are reasonable.)
[*] For the love of god, DO NOT suggest any "new" models for a work-in-progress weapon, Like you just did. I, as a modeller have things to do away-from-keyboard. I have a job, I am a part-time tree surgeon, college student, plumber and I have a family to look after, and I refuse to make the napalm launcher from postal 2 after I have worked a whole day on the model I just made; I feel kinda offended. It's ironic that you suggested that after your talk about realism.

We appreciate your enthusiasm for our project! Very Happy Suggest things as often as you like, as long as you follow what I've said. Come up with something good, and we may make it.

Lastly, we are currently on the brink of overflowing on modellers in our steam group. If you have any knowledge of texture art, or animation, prove it to us, and we'd be more than happy to hire you! The team operates on this forum and steam chat, so MSN, Skype and e-mail is out of the question for now.

OK mate, i understand now better, i'm fine with that, but i had to expose my ideas anyway right?

Well, i thought they had abandoned KF, and the way it is, lets face it, its awfully balanced *cough* sharpshooter *cough*, by the way im not a newbie, im a hardcore fps player and KF right now is the best Coop Survivor horror undisputed,

The crossbow is not a freaking xbow, its a 50cal rifle, well it goes through everybody, with perfect accuracy, if i changed the model and sound effect to a Barret, nobody would notice the difference lmao, i just hate how fleshpound became defenseless after the last patch, its not feared anymore!

I hate overpowered weapons, and the M14 right now is the one, with 14 spare magazines, laser sight dispensing real aiming, way too cheap, high rate of fire, the problem is not even all that, or the ridiculous headshot bonus, but the fact that it ALSO has big stopping power, damm its even more than the Scar, you just aim to any body part and spam, thats it, totally defeats the Sharpshooter perk objective, that is to be a high skilled marksman, now talk about Commando perk being screwed big time in the firepower department.

But don't miss understand, i really felt the lack for more powerfull weapons before the patch, but there must be a price (higher one) and a limit, and the Xbow and M14 blew in both.

*What i really do like is the particularity of some weapons, with strong character, like that ancient lever action rifle, thats not a police or military weapon huh, i think its pretty cool, the Hunting shotgun as well, weapons like these are real fun to use, and even thought they have very strong points, overall they are weak, or have big drawbacks as well, i would like to see more Civilian/Home weapons, and custom/exotics ones as well! Wich means, i would like to add Variety and Choices of weapons to the game, NOT higher powered weapons.

That ^ is so true. It's an amazing weapon. I can't WAIT for the medic bonuses to be added to it! I still think it needs a higher price. It's still a little OP in the sense of the massive Mag capacity. but then again, there's only 3 mags to carry. :/ If anything, you should increase the weight of the weapon.

Have you posted the info and download link into the beta weapon's page, yet?
